The vulnerability is caused due to an input validation error in Active Directory and Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) when handling LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) requests. This can be exploited to cause an affected system to stop responding and automatically restart by sending a specially crafted LDAP request. Successful exploitation on Windows Server 2003 or systems with ADAM installed requires valid logon credentials. SOLUTION: Apply patches.
