The security issue is caused due to the administrator password hash being insecurely placed in data/pref.db. This can be exploited to retrieve the MD5 administrator password hash via URL requests. NOTE: This can be exploited to bypass authentication by creating a cookie named "key" with the value of the MD5 administrator password hash. The security issue is confirmed in version 2.2.7. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Restrict access to the "data" directory (e.g. with an ".htaccess" file).
