---------------------------------------------------------------------- To improve our services to our customers, we have made a number of additions to the Secunia Advisories and have started translating the advisories to German. The improvements will help our customers to get a better understanding of how we reached our conclusions, how it was rated, our thoughts on exploitation, attack vectors, and scenarios. This includes: * Reason for rating * Extended description * Extended solution * Exploit code or links to exploit code * Deep links Read the full description: http://corporate.secunia.com/products/48/?r=l Contact Secunia Sales for more information: http://corporate.secunia.com/how_to_buy/15/?r=l ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE: Linux Kernel "get_fdb_entries()" Integer Overflow Vulnerability SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA23073 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/23073/ CRITICAL: Less critical IMPACT: Privilege escalation WHERE: Local system OPERATING SYSTEM: Linux Kernel 2.6.x http://secunia.com/product/2719/ DESCRIPTION: Eugene Teo has reported a vulnerability in the Linux Kernel, which potentially can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges. The vulnerability is caused due to an integer overflow within the "get_fdb_entries()" function in net/bridge/br_ioctl.c. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow via specially crafted ioctl() requests. Successful exploitation may allow the execution of arbitrary code with escalated privileges. SOLUTION: Update to version 2.6.18.4 or 2.6.19. PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Reported by Eugene Teo, further research by a1rsupp1y.
