TITLE: Vavoom Two Denial of Service Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA19388 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/19388/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: DoS WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: Vavoom 1.x http://secunia.com/product/8925/ DESCRIPTION: Luigi Auriemma has reported two vulnerabilities in Vavoom, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service). 1) An error within the handling of asynchronous socket connections can cause an infinite loop when processing a packet with no data or with a size larger than 4096 bytes. This can be exploited to cause users to be unable to connect to the server until it is restarted 2) A boundary error exists within the handling of compressed packets. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow and crashes the server via a specially-crafted "comprLength" value in the packet. The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.19.1 and prior. SOLUTION: Host network games only within trusted networks.
