TITLE: Pixelpost Comment Script Insertion Vulnerability SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA18572 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/18572/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: Pixelpost 1.x http://secunia.com/product/6946/ DESCRIPTION: Aliaksandr Hartsuyeu has discovered a vulnerability in Pixelpost, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks. Input passed in user comments is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in e.g. an administrative user's browser session when opening the "comments" menu in the admin CP. Administrative users can also upload arbitrary files to locations inside the web root. The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 1.4.3. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Edit the source code to ensure that user input is properly sanitised. Don't grant administrative user privileges to untrusted people.
