TITLE: Gentoo update for qdbm / imagemagick / gdal SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA17427 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/17427/ CRITICAL: Less critical IMPACT: Privilege escalation WHERE: Local system OPERATING SYSTEM: Gentoo Linux 1.x http://secunia.com/product/339/ DESCRIPTION: Gentoo has issued updates for qdbm / imagemagick / gdal. This fixes a vulnerability, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges. The vulnerability is caused due to insecure paths being introduced into the list of directories that are searched for libraries at runtime. This can be exploited by malicious users in the "portage" group to escalate privileges by creating a malicious shared object in the Portage temporary build directory that is loaded at runtime by a dependent executable. SOLUTION: Apply updates. QDBM users: Update to "dev-db/qdbm-1.8.33-r2" or later. ImageMagick users: Update to "media-gfx/imagemagick-6.2.4.2-r1" or later. GDAL users: Update to "sci-libs/gdal-1.3.0-r1" or later, or "sci-libs/gdal-1.2.6-r4" or later.
