TITLE: Xerver Multiple Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA17243 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/17243/ CRITICAL: Moderately critical IMPACT: Cross Site Scripting, Exposure of system information, Exposure of sensitive information WHERE: >From remote SOFTWARE: Xerver 4.x http://secunia.com/product/5944/ DESCRIPTION: Ziv Kamir has reported some vulnerabilities in Xerver, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks, and disclose system and sensitive information. 1) The problem is that it is possible to disclose the source code of script files by appending a dot to the filename in a HTTP request. Example: http://[host]/script.pl. 2) The problem is that the content of a directory can be disclosed even when there is an index file by appending a null character to the path in a HTTP request. Example: http://[host]/%00/ This can further be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site via a specially crafted path. Example: http://[host]/%00/[code] The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 4.17. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Update to version 4.20. http://www.javascript.nu/xerver/ PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Ziv Kamir, Global Security Solution IT ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About: This Advisory was delivered by Secunia as a free service to help everybody keeping their systems up to date against the latest vulnerabilities.
