The vulnerability is caused due to the incorrect use of environment variables by several functions in "uim/uim-custom.c". This can be exploited to gain escalated privileges when libuim is linked against an application running setuid/setgid (e.g. "immodule for Qt" enabled Qt). The vulnerability has been reported in stable versions prior to 0.4.9.1, and in development versions prior to 0.5.0.1.
