Background ========== SNMP Trap Translator (SNMPTT) is an SNMP trap handler written in Perl. Affected packages ================= ------------------------------------------------------------------- Package / Vulnerable / Unaffected ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 net-analyzer/snmptt < 1.4.1 >= 1.4.1 Description =========== It was found that SNMP Trap Translator does not drop privileges as configured and does not properly escape shell commands in certain functions. Impact ====== A remote attacker, by sending a malicious crafted SNMP trap, could possibly execute arbitrary shell code with the privileges of the process or cause a Denial of Service condition. Workaround ========== There is no known workaround at this time. Resolution ========== All SNMP Trap Translator users should upgrade to the latest version: # emerge --sync # emerge --ask --oneshot --verbose ">=net-analyzer/snmptt-1.4.1" References ========== [ 1 ] SNMPTT 1.4.1 ChangeLog https://sourceforge.net/p/snmptt/git/ci/snmptt_1-4-1/tree/snmptt/ChangeLog Availability ============ This GLSA and any updates to it are available for viewing at the Gentoo Security Website: https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202007-63 Concerns? ========= Security is a primary focus of Gentoo Linux and ensuring the confidentiality and security of our users' machines is of utmost importance to us.
