(Copy of the Homepage: http://evolution-xtreme.com ) Abstract Advisory Information: ============================== The vulnerability laboratory core research team discovered multiple client side cross site vulnerabilities in the Nuke Evolution Xtreme v2.0.9d CMS with Php-Nuke 7.6p3.1 core. Vulnerability Disclosure Timeline: ================================== 2016-08-09: Public Disclosure (Vulnerability Laboratory) Discovery Status: ================= Published Affected Product(s): ==================== Nuke Evolution Product: Xtreme - Content Management System (Evo Core) 2.0.9d, 2.0.8 and 2.0.7 Exploitation Technique: ======================= Remote Severity Level: =============== Medium Technical Details & Description: ================================ Multiple client-side cross site scripting web vulnerabilities has been discovered in the official Nuke Evolution Xtreme v2.0.9d CMS. The vulnerability allows remote attackers to inject own malicious script codes to client-side browser to web-application requests. The cross site scripting vulnerabilities are located in the `query` and `ratenum` parameters of the `Download Search` module. The attacker injects the payload to the client-side requested parameter to compromise the `top` and `query` search results output. The injection points are the vulnerable marked parameters and the execution point occurs in the search results output web context of the `modules.php` file. The request method to inject is variable and can be POST or GET because both methods are supported for the search module. The output context of the search input is wrong parsed and thus allows to execute client-side script code in the download search webpage output context. The security risk of the xss vulnerabilities are estimated as medium with a cvss (common vulnerability scoring system) count of 3.8. Exploitation of the client-side vulnerabilities requires no privileged web-application user account and only low user interaction. Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in non-persistent phishing attacks, session hijacking, non-persistent external redirect to malicious sources and non-persistent manipulation of affected or connected web module context.
