Summary: Updated libyaml packages that fix one security issue are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 4.0 and 5.0 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having Moderate security impact. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available from the CVE link in the References section. 2. Relevant releases/architectures: Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 4.0 - x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 5.0 for RHEL 6 - x86_64 3. Description: YAML is a data serialization format designed for human readability and interaction with scripting languages. LibYAML is a YAML parser and emitter written in C. An assertion failure was found in the way the libyaml library parsed wrapped strings. An attacker able to load specially crafted YAML input into an application using libyaml could cause the application to crash. (CVE-2014-9130) All libyaml users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which contain a backported patch to correct this issue. All running applications linked against the libyaml library must be restarted for this update to take effect. 4. Solution: Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied. This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 5.
