The vulnerability is caused due to a format string error in the "<%IP%>" template tag error pages when parsing the "Host" HTTP header and can be exploited via a specially crafted header. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code but requires that the "<%IP%>" template tag is enabled. The vulnerability is reported in version 4.26 for Linux/Apache. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Reportedly fixed in version 5.00. PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Bernhard Mueller, SEC Consult.
