The security issue is caused due to a logic error within the /etc/init.d/target script when checking for the debug mode, which can lead to the script running in debug mode although it's not configured to do so. As the script creates the temporary file /tmp/tgtctl.dbug in an insecure manner when running in debug mode, this can be exploited to e.g. append data to arbitrary files via symlink attacks. The security issue is reported in version 4.1 Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Restrict access to trusted users.
