The security issue is caused due to "net-update" command of the "apt-key" script not properly verifying downloaded keys, which can be exploited to install malicious keys via Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attacks, potentially allowing attackers to e.g. install forged packages. Successful exploitation requires that apt is configured to support this command (e.g. URI to the keyring archive needs to be set). SOLUTION: Do not use the "net-update" command.
