The vulnerability is caused due to the insecure "readRegVal()" method in the detectIESettingsForITA ActiveX control allowing to query registry key/value pairs and can be exploited to disclose arbitrary registry values. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 8.9.0 (detectIESettingsForITA.ocx version 8.1.0.0). Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.
