The vulnerability is caused due to an integer underflow error when processing System Exclusive (SysEx) MIDI messages. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted MIDI file. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 5.61. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Do not open MIDI files from untrusted sources.
