Overview

A null pointer dereference vulnerability in devices/vector/gdevtxtw.c and psi/zbfont.c of Artifex Software GhostScript v9.50 allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service via a crafted postscript file. This is fixed in v9.51.

Ghostscript translates PostScript code to common bitmap formats so that the code can be displayed or printed. Ubuntu Security Notice 4469-1 - It was discovered that Ghostscript incorrectly handled certain document files. If a user or automated system were tricked into processing a specially crafted file, a remote attacker could use this issue to cause Ghostscript to crash, resulting in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code.
