Overview

The xfs_ioc_fsgetxattr function in fs/xfs/linux-2.6/xfs_ioctl.c in the Linux kernel before 2.6.36-rc4 does not initialize a certain structure member, which allows local users to obtain potentially sensitive information from kernel stack memory via an ioctl call.

Ben Hutchings discovered that the ethtool interface did not correctly check certain sizes. Eric Dumazet discovered that many network functions could leak kernel stack contents. Dave Chinner discovered that the XFS filesystem did not correctly order inode lookups when exported by NFS. A large number of additional vulnerabilities have also been address.

Gleb Napatov discovered that KVM did not correctly check certain privileged operations. Dan Rosenberg discovered that the MOVE_EXT ext4 ioctl did not correctly check file permissions. Dan Rosenberg discovered that the swapexit xfs ioctl did not correctly check file permissions. Suresh Jayaraman discovered that CIFS did not correctly validate certain response packats. Many other issues have also been addressed.
