[N]curses Hexedit v0.9.3 is an editor which allows editing and viewing of a file or disk in hexadecimal, along with it's ASCII or EBCDIC text equivalent. Standard editing features include insert, delete, search (text or byte searches), highlighted changes, undo, two different viewing formats, base converter, and full screen text snapshots. Editing fixed disks (i.e. /dev/hda) in Linux is supported. Platforms: Unix with curses, DOS with pdcurses. New Features: Added support for reading file in chunks. Major addition. Command line flags -b (buffer), -d,-f (linux disk), -q (quiet, no beeping). Added support for editing fixed disks in Linux. Removed Bold Table thingy (table_ functions) to be replaced by hash. Added hash table to lookup changes and boldify things. (hash.c). Control-U to delete whole line in stringBox widget. Jumping relative to current offset fowards or backwards. Lots of fixes and small changes to make things work right. Lots and lots of small changes everywhere! Documentation updates for new features.
