VTun is the easiest way to create Virtual Tunnels over TCP/IP networks with traffic shaping, compression, and encryption. It is a user space implementation and doesn't need modification of any kernel parts. VTun supports IP, PPP, SLIP, Ethernet, and other tunnel types. VTun is easily and highly configurable; it can be used for various network tasks like VPN, Mobil IP, Shaped Internet access, Ethernet tunnel, IP address saving, etc.

Changes: New stable release - Encryption fixes include improved challenge generation and a padding check. Empty passwords are not allowed anymore. A config option to specify syslog logging facility was added. Support for the new Linux TUN/TAP driver was added. I/O (read_n/write_n) cancellation was added. Signal handling and other minor fixes were made. Documentation was updated.

Changes: Fixed error handling in UDP and TCP drivers, memory and file descriptor leaks. New man pages and documentation updates. Upgrade is strongly recommended!

VPPP provides a virtual PPP channel over a TCP connection with traffic shaping. It is a user space implememtation which does not require any kernel modification. This system has been tested on Linux but ports to other Unixes should be very easy. This release features password-based authentication, code optimization, better parsing, config files, shaper reworked, asymetrical inbound/outbound shaping.

vppp 2.1 - VPPP provides a virtual PPP channel over a TCP connection with traffic shaping. It is a user space implememtation which does not require any kernel modification. VPPP supports simple authorization based on the host and password keys. This system has been tested only on Linux (i386, Alpha) yet but ports to other Unixes should be very easy.

Changes: Deflate compression implemented using zlib, some bugfixes.
