DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been discovered in PIPI Player PIPIWebPlayer
ActiveX control, which can be exploited by malicious people to
compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to an error when processing the
"PlayURL()" and "PlayURLWithLocalPlayer()" methods. This can be
exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via an overly long
string passed to the methods.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2.8.0.0 (PIPIWebPlayer.ocx
version 1.4.0.0). Other versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.
