DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in CVS, which can be exploited by
malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to an array-indexing error in the
"apply_rcs_change()" function in ccvs/src/rcs.c while processing
delta fragment changes from a file in RCS (Revision Control System)
format. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow
by tricking a user to checkout a specially crafted file.
The vulnerability is reported in version 1.11.23. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Fixed in the CVS repository.
