DESCRIPTION:
Secunia Research has discovered some vulnerabilities in RealPage
Module Upload ActiveX Control, which can be exploited by malicious
people to gain knowledge of sensitive information or compromise a
user's system.
1) A combination of the unsafe "Upload()" method and the "SourceFile"
and "DestURL" properties allows uploading arbitrary files from a
user's system to a web server.
2) A boundary error when handling the "SourceFile" property can be
exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow by setting an overly
long property value.
3) A boundary error when handling the "DestURL" property can be
exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by setting an overly
long property value.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows execution of
arbitrary code.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.0.0.9. Other versions
may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.
