DESCRIPTION:
A security issue and a vulnerability have been reported in MediaWiki,
which can be exploited by malicious people to disclose potentially
sensitive information and conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

1) The security issue is caused due to the api.php script not
properly enforcing "Cache-Control" headers on cache data. This can be
exploited to request private data (e.g. article titles and contents,
contents of deleted articles, user email addresses, or user
watchlists) via public caching headers.

Successful exploitation requires that the attacker is able to use the
same HTTP proxy server as the victim.

The security issue is reported in versions 1.8 through 1.15.4.

2) Certain input passed to profileinfo.php is not properly sanitised
before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute
arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context
of an affected site

Successful exploitation requires that profileinfo.php is enabled by
setting "wgEnableProfileInfo" to "true" in LocalSettings.php
(disabled by default).

The vulnerability is reported in versions prior to 1.15.5 and 1.16.

SOLUTION:
Update to version 1.15.5 or 1.16.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Reported by the vendor.
