DESCRIPTION:
Kingcope has reported a security issue in IBM AIX, which can be
exploited by malicious users to disclose potentially sensitive
information.
The security issue is caused due to the FTP service not properly
handling "NLST" commands with certain specially crafted parameters.
This can be exploited to trigger a core dump of the FTP process,
which can contain password hashes of user accounts and may be
downloadable via FTP.
The security issue is reported in IBM AIX 5.1. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict access to trusted users only.
