DESCRIPTION:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Cisco Network Building
Mediator, which can be exploited by malicious users to gain escalated
privileges and by malicious people to gain knowledge of sensitive
information.
1) Unspecified errors can be exploited by authenticated users via
HTTP/HTTPS or XML-RPC over HTTP/HTTPS to gain escalated privileges
and read/modify the device configuration.
2) Certain sensitive information (e.g. credentials) is passed via
HTTP and XML-RPC over HTTP and may, therefore, be intercepted by a
third party.
3) A certain system configuration file containing sensitive
information (e.g. user account credentials) is accessible via XML-RPC
over HTTP/HTTPS.
The vulnerabilities are reported in Richards-Zeta Mediator 2500 and
Cisco Network Building Mediator NBM-2400 and NBM-4800 models.
NOTE: Certain predefined user accounts including the administrative
user have default passwords assigned that, if left unchanged during
setup, allows unauthorised access to the device.
SOLUTION:
Update to a fixed version.
