TITLE:
Internet Download Manager FTP Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA39446

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/39446/

DESCRIPTION:
Secunia Research has discovered a vulnerability in Internet Download
Manager, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a
user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when sending
certain test sequences to an FTP server. This can be exploited to
cause a stack-based buffer overflow by e.g. tricking a user into
downloading from a specially crafted FTP URI.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 5.18. Prior versions may
also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Update to version 5.19.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Stefan Cornelius, Secunia Research.
