DESCRIPTION:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in libESMTP, which can be
exploited by malicious people to conduct spoofing attacks.
1) An error when processing Common Name (CN) certificate fields
containing NULL ('\0') characters can be exploited to e.g. conduct
Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attacks via specially crafted certificates.
2) An error within the "match_component()" function in smtp-tls.c
when matching subjectAltName certificate fields can be exploited to
e.g. conduct Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attacks.
The vulnerabilities are reported in version 1.0.4. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Apply patch.
