DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in Cisco InternetWork Performance
Monitor (IPM), which can be exploited by malicious people to
compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to an error when processing Common
Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) GIOP requests. This can be
exploited to cause a buffer overflow via a specially crafted CORBA
GIOP request.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code with
SYSTEM privileges on a Windows system.
The vulnerability is reported in version 2.6 and earlier for Windows.
SOLUTION:
Contact the vendor for instructions on migrating to non-vulnerable
software (please see the vendor advisory for details).
Restrict network access to an affected system.
