DESCRIPTION:
Maxim A. Kulakov has discovered a security issue in Protector Plus,
which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated
privileges.
The security issue is caused due to the application setting insecure
default permissions on the "Protector Plus" installation directory.
This can be exploited to gain escalated privileges by e.g. replacing
the PPAVMON.exe binary.
The security issue is confirmed in Protector Plus Professional
version 9.1.001 and Protector Plus 2009 version 8.0.E03. Other
versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Remove unprivileged access from the permissions set on the "Protector
Plus" installation directory.
