TITLE:
Zeeways PhotoVideoTube Multiple Vulnerabilities
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA35208
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/35208/
DESCRIPTION:
Hakxer has reported some vulnerabilities in Zeeways PhotoVideoTube,
which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security
restrictions or conduct script insertion attacks and by malicious
users to potentially to compromise a vulnerable system.
1) A vulnerability is caused due to the application allowing access
to the admin interface by checking if a certain cookie exists. This
can be exploited to gain administrative access to the application by
creating the cookie "username" and assigning it the value "admin".
2) Input passed via comments in comment_pics.php is not properly
sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert
arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's
browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious
data is viewed.
3) An error exists in the handling of file uploads in upload_pics.php
when a file name has multiple file extensions. This can be exploited
to e.g. upload and execute PHP scripts.
Successful exploitation requires a specific server configuration
(e.g. an Apache server with the "mod_mime" module installed).
The vulnerabilities are reported in version 1.1. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict access to the "admin" folder (e.g. via .htaccess file).
Disable the file upload functionality. Edit the source code to ensure
that input is properly sanitised.
