SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/34083/
DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in Avahi, which can be exploited by
malicious people to potentially cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to the
"originates_from_local_legacy_unicast_socket()" function in
avahi-core/server.c failing to properly detected locally reflected
packets. This can be exploited to trigger the excessive consumption
of resources and potentially cause a crash or hang via specially
crafted legacy unicast queries.
The vulnerability is reported in version 0.6.23. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Disable the reflector functionality or use Avahi in trusted networks
only.
