TITLE:
e107 Multiple Script Insertion Vulnerabilities
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA34109
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/34109/
DESCRIPTION:
Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in e107, which can be
exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks.
Input passed to the "author_name", "itemtitle", and
"e107_submitnews_item" parameters in submitnews.php is not properly
sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert
arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's
session in the context of an affected site when the malicious news
post is viewed.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 0.7.14. Other versions
may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
