DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in Evolution, which can be
exploited by malicious people to conduct spoofing attacks.
The vulnerability is caused due to the application considering an
altered message signed by the S/MIME signature of an original message
valid. This can be exploited to send an apparently valid S/MIME
message with a signature obtained via e.g. a MitM (Man-in-the-Middle)
attack.
SOLUTION:
Do not rely on the security provided by S/MIME signatures in
Evolution.
