Vulnerabilities

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/30764/

CRITICAL:
Moderately critical

IMPACT:
Cross Site Scripting, Manipulation of data

WHERE:
>From remote

SOFTWARE:
TrailScout 5.x (module for Drupal)
http://secunia.com/product/19111/

DESCRIPTION:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in the TrailScout Module for
Drupal, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script
insertion attacks and malicious people to conduct SQL injection
attacks.

1) Input passed when creating a new post is not properly sanitised
before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and
script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in
context of an affected site when a malicious post is viewed.

Successful exploitation requires privileges to create posts.

2) Certain input passed via cookies is not properly sanitised before
being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL
queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

The vulnerabilities are reported in versions for Drupal 5.x prior to
5.x-1.4.

SOLUTION:
Update to version 5.x-1.4.
