DESCRIPTION:
A weakness has been reported in Sun Service Tag, which can be
exploited by malicious, local users to cause a DoS (Denial of
Service).
The weakness is caused due to an unspecified error in the Sun Service
Tag Registry, which can be exploited to completely fill the "/var"
file system.
Successful exploitation may result in a DoS for applications
depending on the "/var" file system.
The weakness is reported in Sun Service Tag version 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2
for Solaris, version 1.1 and 1.2 for Enterprise Linux, and Solaris 10
for the SPARC and x86 platforms.
NOTE: This weakness does not affect Service Tag for the Windows
platform.
SOLUTION:
Update to version 1.1.3 or later, or apply patches.
