DESCRIPTION:
securfrog has discovered a vulnerability in freeSSHd, which can be
exploited by malicious users to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the processing
of SFTP commands. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer
overflow via an SFTP command requesting a directory with an overly
long name.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code, but
requires that the attacker has SFTP access to the server.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 1.2.1. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict access to trusted users only.
