DESCRIPTION:
Digital Security Research Group have discovered some vulnerabilities
in BolinOS, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct
cross-site scripting attacks and to disclose sensitive information.
1) Input passed to the "_bFileToInclude" parameter in
system/_b/contentFiles/gBIncluder.php is not properly verified before
being used to include files. This can be exploited to include
arbitrary files from local resources via directory traversal
attacks.
2) Input passed to the "url" parameter in
system/actionspages/_b/contentFiles/gBImageViewer.php, "ForEditor" in
system/actionspages/_b/contentFiles/gBselectorContents.php, in the URL
to system/actionspages/_b/contentFiles/gBLoginPage.php and
system/actionspages/_b/contentFiles/gBPassword.php, "formlogin" in
system/actionspages/_b/contentFiles/gBLoginPage.php, and
"bolini_searchengine46Search" in help/index.php is not properly
sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to
execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in
context of an affected site.
3) It is possible to view certain system information returned by the
"phpinfo()" function by accessing the
system/actionspages/_b/contentFiles/gBphpInfo.php script directly.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 4.6.1. Other versions
may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly verified and
sanitised. Restrict access to
system/actionspages/_b/contentFiles/gBphpInfo.php (e.g. with
".htaccess").
