DESCRIPTION:
Luigi Auriemma has discovered a vulnerability in Print Manager Plus
2008 Client Billing and Authentication, which can be exploited by
malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or potentially
compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the PQCore
Service (PQCore.exe) service and can be exploited to cause a
stack-based buffer overflow by sending an overly-long packet to
default port 48101/TCP.
Successful exploitation crashes PQCore Service, which is immediately
restarted. Execution of arbitrary code has not been proven, but
cannot be completely ruled out.
The vulnerability is confirmed in Print Manager Plus 2008 Client
Billing and Authentication version 7.0.127.16. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict network access to the PQCore Service.
