TITLE:

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:

VERIFY ADVISORY:

CRITICAL:
Highly critical

IMPACT:
Security Bypass, System access

WHERE:
>From remote

SOFTWARE:
JBC Explorer 7.x
http://secunia.com/product/16446/

DESCRIPTION:
DarkFig has discovered a vulnerability in JBC Explorer, which can be
exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions
and compromise a vulnerable system.

The .dirsys/modules/auth.php script does not restrict access to
logged in users and can be exploited to delete the auth.inc.php file
and create a new auth.inc.php file. This can be further exploited to
log in as administrator, edit the config.inc.php file, and execute
arbitrary PHP code.

Successful exploitation requires that the web server has write access
to the .dirsys/modules/auth/ directory and the
.dirsys/modules/auth/auth.inc.php file.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 7.05. Other versions may
also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Restrict access to JBC Explorer (e.g. with ".htaccess").

Use another product.
