SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:

VERIFY ADVISORY:

CRITICAL:
Moderately critical

IMPACT:
System access

WHERE:
>From remote

SOFTWARE:
BlazeDVD 5.x
http://secunia.com/product/12716/

DESCRIPTION:
Parvez Anwar has discovered a vulnerability in BlazeDVD, which can be
exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when parsing PLF
playlist files containing an overly long file name (greater than 256
bytes). This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow
via a specially crafted playlist file.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerability is confirmed in Blaze DVD 5.0 Professional and
Standard versions. Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Do not open untrusted playlists.
