SOFTWARE:

DESCRIPTION:
rgod has discovered some vulnerabilities and a security issue in
NOCC, which can be exploited by malicious users to compromise a
vulnerable system, and by malicious people to conduct cross-site
scripting attacks and disclose sensitive information.
1) Input passed to the "lang" and "theme" parameters, and
"Accept-Language" HTTP header in "index.php" isn't properly verified,
before it is used to include files. This can be exploited to include
arbitrary files from local resources.
This can further be exploited to include arbitrary PHP code injected
into uploaded mail attachments or user preferences in the "profiles"
directory.
2) The problem is that user preferences are stored insecurely in the
"profiles" directory inside the web root and can be exposed.
Successful exploitation requires that the settings for the "profiles"
directory has been defined as given by the instructions in the
configuration file (not enabled by default).
3) Some input isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the
user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code
in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
Examples:
http://[victim]/html/error.php?html_error_occurred=[code]
http://[victim]/html/filter_prefs.php?html_filter_select=[code]
http://[victim]/html/no_mail.php?html_no_mail=[code]
http://[victim]/html/html_bottom_table.php?page_line=[code]
http://[victim]/html/html_bottom_table.php?prev=[code]
http://[victim]/html/html_bottom_table.php?next=[code]
It is also possible to disclose the full path to "html/header.php" by
accessing it directly.
The vulnerabilities and the security issue have been confirmed in
version 1.0. Other versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly verified and
move the "profiles" directory out of the web root.
