DESCRIPTION:
Aliaksandr Hartsuyeu has reported some vulnerabilities in PerlBLOG,
which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script
insertion attacks and to bypass certain security restrictions.
1) Input passed to the "reply" parameter in weblog.pl within the
"Post Comment" functionality isn't properly sanitised before bring
used to create files. This can be exploited to create ".txt" files
containing values from the "name" and "body" parameter in arbitrary
directories accessible by the web server
2) Input passed to the "month" parameter in weblog.pl within the
"Archives" functionality isn't properly santised before being used to
display ".txt" files. This can be exploited to disclose contents of
certain ".txt" files.
3) Input passed to the "name" and "body" parameter in weblog.pl isn't
properly santised before being saved as a comment. This can be
exploited to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser
session in context of an affected website when a malicious comment
entry is viewed.
The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.08, 109, and
1.09b. Other versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
