SOFTWARE:
Bacula 1.x
http://secunia.com/product/5734/

DESCRIPTION:
Eric Romang has reported some vulnerabilities in bacula, which can be
exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions on a
vulnerable system with escalated privileges, or to disclose certain
sensitive information.

The vulnerabilities are caused due to temporary files being created
insecurely in "/tmp" by "autoconf/randpass" and
"scripts/mtx-changer.in". This can be exploited via symlink attacks
in conjunction with a race condition to create or overwrite arbitrary
files with the privileges of the user running the affected scripts, or
to reveal the randomly generated password.

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.36.3 and prior.

SOLUTION:
The vulnerabilities have been fixed in the CVS repositories.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Eric Romang, ZATAZ Audit.
