DESCRIPTION:
Donnie Werner has reported a vulnerability and a security issue in
mimicboard2, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct
script insertion attacks and disclose sensitive information.
1) Input passed to the "name", "title" and "comment" fields in a post
isn't properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to
inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a
user's browser session in context of an affected site when the
malicious user data is viewed.
2) The security issue is caused due to user credentials being stored
in the "mimic2.dat" file inside the web root. This can be exploited
to disclose the administrator's password.
The vulnerability and the security issue have been reported in build
#086 and prior.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised and
move the "mimic2.dat" file out of the web root.
