DESCRIPTION:
Randall Perry has reported a weakness in Gaim, which can be exploited
by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

The weakness is caused due to an error in the handling of parenthesis
in filenames when saving files. This can be exploited to crash another
client by sending a file with a specially crafted filename.

Successful exploitation requires that the client accepts the file
transfer.

The weakness has been reported in version 1.1.3 for Windows. Other
versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Don't accept untrusted file transfers.
