SOFTWARE:
Novell iChain 2.x
http://secunia.com/product/1423/
DESCRIPTION:
Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in iChain, which can be
exploited by malicious people to bypass security restrictions and
conduct cross-site scripting and DoS (Denial of Service) attacks.
1) Insufficient validation of overly long UTF-8 encodings can be
exploited using escape sequences to bypass access control rules.
2) Input passed to the web server is not properly sanitised before
being returned to users. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary
HTML and script code in user's browser session in context of an
affected site. This can potentially be exploited to steal login
credentials.
3) An input validation error, which can be exploited using a
specially crafted URL, may cause a DoS on a vulnerable system.
4) The "VIA" header may disclose iChain build information.
5) iChain login credentials are passed in a basic authorisation
header when the LDAP server pointed to by ACLCHECK is down.
The issues have been reported in version 2.3.
SOLUTION:
The vulnerabilities have been addressed in version 2.3 Support Pack 1
Beta.
