By courtesy of CERT Coordination Center we received the following information.
CERT Coordination Center advisory CA-99-09 Array Services default configuration
on IRIX and UNICOS systems running the Array Services daemon.
A vulnerability has been discovered in the default configuration of the Array
Services daemon, arrayd. Array Services are used to manage a cluster of systems.
The default configuration file, arrayd.auth, disables authentication and does
not provide adequate protection for systems connected to an untrusted network,
allowing remote and local users to execute arbitrary commands as root.
This advisory provides a solution for the affected systems.
CERT-NL recommends installing the named patches for your systems immediately, or
contact your vendor.
Additional information with regards to this vulnerability is placed in
the advisory. The original advisory's URL is:
http://www.cert.org/advisories/CA-99-09-arrayd.html
You are encouraged to check on updates of the archive regularly. You can
automate that process by using the CERT-NL notifier service.
All CERT Coordination Center advisories are mirrored by CERT-NL.
