Ubuntu Security Notice 3841-2 - USN-3841-1 fixed a vulnerability in lxml. This update provides the corresponding update for Ubuntu 12.04 ESM. It was discovered that lxml incorrectly handled certain HTML files. An attacker could possibly use this issue to conduct cross-site scripting attacks. Various other issues were also addressed.

A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 12.04 ESM

Summary:

lxml could allow cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

Software Description:
- lxml: pythonic binding for the libxml2 and libxslt libraries

Details:

USN-3841-1 fixed a vulnerability in lxml. This update provides
the corresponding update for Ubuntu 12.04 ESM.

Original advisory details:

It was discovered that lxml incorrectly handled certain HTML files.
An attacker could possibly use this issue to conduct cross-site
scripting (XSS) attacks.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 12.04 ESM:
python-lxml 2.3.2-1ubuntu0.3
python3-lxml 2.3.2-1ubuntu0.3

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary
changes.
