Ubuntu Security Notice 3624-2 - USN-3624-1 fixed a vulnerability in Patch. This update provides the corresponding update for Ubuntu 12.04 ESM. It was discovered that Patch incorrectly handled certain files. An attacker could possibly use this to cause a denial of service. Various other issues were also addressed.

Details:

USN-3624-1 fixed a vulnerability in Patch. This update provides
the corresponding update for Ubuntu 12.04 ESM.

Original advisory details:

It was discovered that Patch incorrectly handled certain files. An
attacker could possibly use this to cause a denial of service.
(CVE-2016-10713)

It was discovered that Patch incorrectly handled certain input
validation. An attacker could possibly use this to execute arbitrary
code. (CVE-2018-1000156)

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 12.04 ESM:
patch 2.6.1-3ubuntu0.2

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary
changes.
